I asked to my daughter many times in the past and can't ask that again anymore (I believe that it is the first cultural event you learn at kinder garden school.). So I googled as pasted one below. Very simple southern Italian dish made with fresh peas, small onion, garlic, parsley, all season crop from the farmers market this morning was sooo good and tasty. Cooked with olive oil and Panccetta, not even salt or paper was necessary for this ingredients combo. And a cold glass of white wine made my Lazy-Summer-Afternoon-Nap super-duper.

I realized that I need to buy 3 to 4 times more pea pods than you think it's enough.

They should have been 2 to 3 times more peas in this plate.

The old old hand blown glass that I got from studio sale in my Art college days.

She or He who made this glass should be happy to see her/his college piece is in use for many years.

Bizen Yaki plate looked Okay, but I would prefer to hold this taste in a warm white plate.

July 4th, nothing but about fireworks besides Independence.
Fireworks were everywhere to enjoy if you don't mind it in suburb scale. This year, I captured it on the way to the top of the hill in Briarcliff Manor. Street lights spiced up usual fireworks accidentally.

I walked down my home town with my cousin who moved back from Fukushima Nuclear disaster Area. We joined along with 500 people for the one day demostration march against Nuclear plants. I simply long for healthy earth life in many generations to come. Now he went back to Sendai where damaged by earthquake, to volunteer cleaning.

Okayama castle and Asahi river. would be better with different bridge design...

I was urged to peek the extraordinary tree Peonies at the Rockefeller State Park before all blooms would be knocked down by heavy May rain. ( it has been raining heavily for one week!) These peonies were gift to the park from Shimane prefecture in Japan after 9.11.2001.

Columbia Japan Society Maturi 2011

Thanks Columbia Japan Society for letting us participate in its annual event "MATSURI". ( link to the nice brochure!!)
We ceartinly got re-energized by a lots of powerful music, dance performances, and foods. It seemed to be more people than the last year. Sharing different cultures at Columbia university campus was right fitted. Although it was a chilly Spring day, we had many shoppers at te+te table, and its sales will be donated to the New York Japan Society's Eathquake Relief Fund.
Thanks again, hope we will be able to keep up with you guys for the 2012.

As many of you know already, Japan has been under a devastating disaster. I am stunned by what happened, and what is happening in Japan. Honestly it took me a while to take action to help support them from distance besides tweeting and sharing through SN.

I chose to help through Japan Society Japan Earthquake Relief Found I believe that they are most likely take the direct way to victim's immediate needs.
(Many accesses for support are provided such as Save a Children, Doctors Without Borders, Red Cross, Yahoo etc.).

Donation by te+te will be made by:
1. 50% profit of sales of te+te products (both ground+web store) through the end of March.
2. One dollar for one click on become a fan, "LIKE" te+te FB.
3. 50% of profit sales of te+te products at the upcoming event on April 15th at Columbia University Japan Matsuri.

It has been a kind of tough time for finding Springy, gorgeous fabrics for a while, but we were able to make 2 new bags (4 kinds of fabrics to cover both sides) so far, and they are ready to go.
One of the fabric has a beautiful texture and a subtle dimension which reminds me of Armani's fabrics. It is light yet has a volume, an exquisite touch. I tried to capture it in camera by under different lightnings but I couldn't.

The shimmer of colors and textures in fine silk.

Have you noticed that our bags have been evolving gradually?

The black damask, partially in chenille, rests down comfortably with Gold +Sepia silk stripe.

PIT FIRING CLAY

One of Fall fun events at Hammond Museum. We made a lots of fun objects with clay 2 weeks ago and then came back for firing them at the back of the garden at the museum yesterday. My first experience for clay pit firing was great fun. I will look into more about pit firing and will look forward to attempting it again with a bit advanced step for next time.

Bisqued pieces are set under, unbisqued pieces are set aside at the beginning.

Bread on stick and iron pan was my favorite. Menu: Bread, Soup, Baked potato&yam, Baked apple with cinnamon butter, Marshmallow on stick, herb tea.

can't finish firing course without multaple marshmallows on one stick- a creative thinking matters -. wrapped apples on baking.

After a several hours of firing and the last cooling off.

Pieces covered with ashes are pretty. This is the stage where I wanted them to be.

A good time continues....

wonder if I can wait to do another one till the next Fall..... shall we call in Spring....

I definitely got to taste the third season of the year before reaching Christmas season and a big deadline in January.
Due to lack of complete ingredients, Pear tart wannabe and Apple nuts casserole(?) were brought by mix-matching of a few recipes.
Taste? a five-star. The season helps. A Happy Autumn :)

Anemone is one of my favorite perennials in my garden.

And there is always an unexpected exception. This one is exceptionally exception. It produces green in substitution for white in this chilly air instead of in the warm air in May and June? Combo of purple and green Uh, beautiful!,

while other Clematis are almost ready for transforming into seeds. Clematis has eye-catching elements to pleasure my eyes all the way throughout a year.

I don't know the name but blooming a lot this year.

Wonder why Fall flowers give you sentimental feelings....

I needed to do one more thing before getting ready for the new season. My summer couldn't be over without a sand treatment!!
All you need to do is to find a place where enough sand for you to be buried in for a several hours. Beach umbrella, a bottle of water, a shovel and a towel are essentials to do it comfortably. So my friend, Yoga teacher and I chose Okland Beach this time for the easy distance, and buried for approximately 3 hours. Oh, my body was totally refreshed and helped for a great deal of my Jet lag. We may go back again on Monday, aiming 5 hours of detoxication, if the weather is allowed.
Perhaps, you are able to to walk on the sand or even to swim in Google map?!?!

As a tree house seems to be getting more popular lately, my life long passion to Tarzantifc life raises my thumb up. My partner once has designed web-tree-house for his client a long time ago. I am sure he doesn't mind designing one for me too, then I 'd better make sure he wants to play Tarzan........ Which one is your pic ?

Well done but...don't we want to see beautiful panorama views from the inside? Perhaps, entire panels including floor and ceiling are mirrored, then it is exciting!

Nice!, but windows are too small...why do we still need to be closed ....still need privacy up there?

It blends in winter scenery, but again windows... perhaps we may have visitors from the outer sky though...

This is classic, but I would take off ladders and add vines to swing around. Okay, then find Tarzan!

SUMMER AT HAMMOND MUSEUM

The heatwaves and the Worldcup have been making all lives slower -- does it apply only to myself ? --. The opening show at Hammond Museum was quit enjoyable. The museum garden was lively with full of green leaves, as gorgeously smoke trees bloom.

Seeing 3 artists works and strolling the garden are worth spending your half day on summer weekend ( have a lunch at cafe too). The 3 shows runs through Mid September. We just added a new product, Goat Milk Soap, at the museum gift shop. Yeah, the aroma in this Zen Garden soap reactivates your imagination and inspiration once you open it. Its details will be followed shortly.

Ceramic Birds are cooling off under the one of smoke trees.

Artist, Christy Hengst and her birds stayed one day at this garden, then headed to the UN garden in NYC.

Summer came on Memorial Day weekend. I grabbed a few pieces of ceramic pieces and went to the woods to learn how to use my new camera. Hundreds shots were taken, but none came out well. I was aware that my lack of inspiration made the result worse. Then I found a nice spot that wasn't a right scale for me but for the little piece. So, I had my pieces practice "Mizugyo" (waterfalls training) instead of myself .

WONDERWOOD and WOODLAND NO.2

Wonderwood is the new fragrance just launched by Comme des Garcons. The news stimulates me already even without scenting it. As I posted my previous blog, I was encouraged by Comme des Garcons who took the same direction as te+te as capturing a sense of the forest. Surprisingly, once again, they projected Wood for the latest fragrance while we are still strolling in woods, working toward the new woody scent. Although the image of our new scent is still at the primary stage, it is provokingly close to theirs. Well, our version will not be in spray mist, but will be for a different application.

By the way, I had a chance to try a several recent fragrances by Comme des Garcons during my last trip to Japan. I liked the most of them. But I am totally disappointed by the Wonderwood promo video.....

BREAD AND BUTTER

After the meeting at the midtown NYC yesterday, I knew where to have my lunch. Before stepping into this restaurant, I get to prepare for leaving my guilt behind the door. Because their butter and baguette are exceptionally good (french bread and butter is ultimate combo to start with, anyway), I turn myself OFF from my rule only at this restaurant (I try not to use butter for my cooking usually).
I found this little cozy soup restaurant about 20 years ago when I used to visit designers at Polo Ralph Lauren for my work. If my appointment time hit their lunch time, We often ordered our lunch delivered from here, just a few houses up from RL former office. What amazes me also is that neither the menus nor taste has been changed since. With good simple menu and reasonable price, they never fail to live up my expectation.

I don't want to mention how many of butter cubes and baskets of Baguette I had...

Don't forget ordering a dessert. This is the classic, solid custard pudding and one of the best. BIG, but easy to finish all.

Yes, La Bonne Soupe, between 5th and 6th on 55th St. A little France on 55th.

Then, on the way to (I WALKED)to the MAD Museum at the Lincoln Center,

I found the little section of Paradise which totally didn't seem to belong to Central Park South scenery.

For that reason, they looked like a apparitional, fairy tale.

そして歩いてアートアンドクラフト美術館へ行く途中、セントラルパークサウスの道並みには全く似つかないパラダイスが。まるでそこだけが別世界。妖怪的お伽の国風でとても良かった。

昨日ミッドタウン・マンハッタンでミーティングを終え、ランチは既に決めてあったレストランへ行った。このレストランへ入る前には覚悟が必要。ここのバゲットとバターは最高で（もともとフランスパンとバターの組み合わせは究極ですが）、普段バターを控えている私には、ここのレストランだけは通常のルールを破っても良し、勢い良くバターとバゲットから頂きます。

このレストランを知ったのは役２０年程前、当時ラルフローレンのデザイナー達と仕事をしていた時、アポの時間がランチタイムとなれば、出前を２、３件隣にあった当時のオフィスに良く届けてもっらてから。

驚くのは、ずっとメニューも味も変わっていないということ。シンプルな内容のメニューにリーズナブルな値段も揃え、今後もずっと私の期待を裏切らないよう願う。

PERSIMMON DYE

Te Plus Te offers hand dyed textile collection from Japan. Both Indigo and Persimmon dye. What is Persimmon? It is an edible fruit (see the photos). It is not yet popular in U.S.A., and yet you can find them at Asian grocery stores during late summer to fall season. Ripe one is very tasty and sweet. I like when one is just before getting soft. So, Persimmon's origin is China according to Wiki, and this fruit, besides as food, has quite a history of its usage in China, Korea and Japan. They have utilized this fruit for very functional reasons, a color agent, insect repellent, water repellent, reinforce materials such as for paper, wood and fabrics. I am aware that it is getting a revival now for eco friendly reason in Japan.
As a coloring agent, it gives a soft peachy pink to dark brown as you see ones in our collection. The our collection is made by the family-run studio in Japan, where the fabric is hand dyed in small batches to ensure the quality of craftsmanship and integrity of color. No chemicals are used during or after the dyeing process that it is gentle to your skin. Each piece is unique. The richness and variety of natural plant color will brighten you in all seasons!

I am very impressed by their execution of this big event and their enthusiasm in sharing Japanese culture. It was a meaningful day for me to rethink how te+te can do to connect the cultural tradition with the presence and for the future.

Lately, I have been following Astro Soichi who tweets from the International Space Station. His every day shots of Earth and Universe posted on his twitpic is astonishingly earthy. It is beyond Google maps! I found that his tweet made Twittering more meaningful to me. Please take a peek at his pics ( you may have to register to log in--- it's worth it). Anyway, I thought that today is a good day to look his photographs of Earth because today is Earth Day! It is a good day to think about life~Earth once again a way far in the distance.
What can I do on Earth Day? So, I dug up earth and expanded vegetable bed in my garden today. Yeah, I surely took good care of a tiny bit of our planet. After watching awfully scary
TV PBS program Food, Inc., finding how the US food industry including government control our life through the food and environment. I get to appreciate having a tiny bit of earth for growing vegetables organically in the backyard. Well, I may came too far down from Astoro Soichi's view. I will give a big hug + kiss to Earth every day on the ground.

宇宙ステーションでの野口飛行士をフォローして、毎日Twitpicにアップされる写真は驚く程earthy.Google Mapを超えて。tweetにもこれでようやく本当の価値が見えたように思う。彼のtwitpicを是非ご覧下さい。さて今日はEARTH DAY,　何ができるかな？気持ちが良い日だったので、野菜畑の手入れ〜地球の極々わずかな土を世話を。昨夜のTVーPBSでFood Incというー如何に米国政府も含んだ食品産業・農業が人間の生命と環境をコントロールしているか、背筋がゾクッとする怖い番組を観た後だったこともあってか、今日は特にほんの小さな野菜畑を持って無農薬野菜栽培できる事に感謝。野口宇宙飛行士の写真からは随分視覚が下がり過ぎてしまったけど。。。私は土を踏んで地球＝土に愛情を毎日そそぎましょう〜。（Earthの訳は地球が一般的、でも土とも訳せるのです）

The late afternoon, I decided to take an advantage of self-employed status and went out for a walk ( Hey, I don't usually have any weekend off). Just for an hour to enjoy the color of Chartruse. I can't believe we have such a wild nature around. Thanks for the Rockefeller family. Encountering with new born calves and piglets was another spring phenomenon. It is too bad that I can't attach the sounds of singing birds and scents of Charteruse. I am difinitely going to bring a blanket next time! Happy Spring!

KUROSAWA'S 100th BIRTHDAY-DERSU UZALA

Captain and Dersu, beautiful, just beautiful scene

Dodesuka-den

My consecutive and intense Kurosawa movie nights were ended with Dodesukaden. Dersu Uzala: The best element of this movie was in when Captain called Dersu's name and Dersu called Captain's name. Especially Dersu pronounces Captain "Capitan", his voice still echos in my ears and penetrates to my heartstrings. I just loved Dersu.

It was pictured as a boring movie to me many years ago. But this time was fulfiled with heartness, and I call it Mujyo in Japanese. It is translated to Heartlessness or Ruthless according to Google. That is totally opposite meaning of Mujyo. That is real Ruthless! Or perhaps, the Japanese rather want to beautify Heartlessness in our special way.

Doreskaden was just like this poster. I thought it was good, but here I found some sentences from WiKi that I didn't know about.

The critical failure of Dodesukaden sent Kurosawa into a deep depression, and in 1971 he attempted suicide. Despite having slashed himself over 30 times with a razor, Kurosawa survived his suicide attempt; however, he would not return to filmmaking for five years, releasing Dersu Uzala in 1975.

何日か続いた黒沢映画も「どですかでん」で終了。デルスウザーラ；この映画の一番はやはりキャプテンが「デルス」、デルスが『キャプテン』と呼ぶ時。デルスが「キャピタン」と音するその声は琴線に響く最高の音だった。昔観た時には本当に退屈な映画に映ったけど、今回は心に’響いた無情の世界でした。この無情をグーグル翻訳（エキサイト）で英語に直訳するとなんとHeartlessness, Ruthlessとなってしまう〜！全く逆。これこそホントに無慈悲で冷酷。う〜〜んというか、日本人は勝手に無情＝無慈悲を美化してるだけかも？

どですかでんはまさにポスターの様で面白かったけど、ウィキにこんな事が、、知らなかった。なるほどデルスはその後だったのか。
さて次はどんな映画を観ようかな。。。

KUROSAWA'S 100th BIRTHDAY

KUROSAWA centennial 1910-2010, the retrospective of his film career is celebrated at Jacob Burns Film Center in my town. How Lucky I Am! 15 films are shown during 3 weeks. I was only able to see 3 films so far, Drunken Angel, Ikiru, Red Beared, and I am planing to see 3 more. This time, they seemed brilliant as ever to my eyes and heart. How different they are from what I have captured by my younger eyes and soul.
Also it is exciting to recognize his subject, expression, and approach are constant even throughout different period of his time.

黒沢明監督誕生１００年大回顧展を私の住むプレゼントビルにあるバーンズフィルムセンターで開催。３週間に渡り、計１５の作品上映中。ラッキー！　まだ、酔いどれ天使、生きる、赤髭の３つしか見れていない。あと３つは行く予定。

かなり昔に観た時と随分異なって見えるのが面白い。若い時には表現がむしろダサク見えたり。歳を重ねるとよりシンプルなのを好んでくるらしい。今回面白かったのは、初期の作品も後期も一貫している点が感じられた事。残りを観るのが楽しみ！

日本語が聴き取り難いので（ステレオでもなさそう）英語の字幕があって良かった。

The girl's eyes were fearly stunning by Kurosawa's lighting effect and composition. Her acting made me cry at the end.

女の子の演技が格別。黒沢監督の照明とコマの構成の素晴らしさで女の子の目が恐ろしい程に表現されていた。若き医者はなんと加山雄三。若さはやはり美しい。三船は逆に上の頃とは別人。

ONLY A KITKAT

It's only a KitKat, but Japanese KitKat seems to keep evolving. As if it is a challenge of human tasting possibility.The additions to the Green tea flavor I got last time, now Soy sauce and Wasabi versions are sold at Narita Airport, Japan.
Again, KitKat=chocolate, means one is a chocolate covered with Wasabi, and another one is a chocolate marinated in Soy sauce! How does this sound to you? Does it make you head to Narita Airport? This is the best souvenir I got for this time. I am so excited that I have not opened them yet.

たまたま昨日の今日で、宇宙飛行士野口氏のtweetに遭遇し、上空からの美しい地球の写真を数多く見ることができた。思ったより結構低めからのショットが主だけど、中には、私は魂だけになった時にしか行けないだろうな〜という距離からの地球の姿も見れる。いつか野口氏が宇宙に彷徨うくらげの写真を送ってくる日があるかも。

Earth is truly inspiring.

INDIGO by DIESEL

There is nothing special about reviewing Indigo at Deisel because it is their prime element. But the extension of its application of Indigo seems to be reviving. Their appproach, indigo blue with brown, just like te+te's Indigo and Persimmon. is cool. Indigo remains strong and cool in any style, any generetions, and for generations to come as our wish.

Dieselにとってインデイゴは基本だから特に目新しい事でもないけど、彼等の藍の使い方（というか使用する対象物）が蘇っているようです。ここに見る藍と茶色の組み合わせはte+teの藍染＆柿渋と同じ！

It seems to be light and yet a bit bulky to carry around? It may work as a Life saver for homeless people, for people being squeezed in subway during a rush hour, for people at airport while waiting for a connecting flight, and for people like me, who don't know about selve. Very Versatile!

楽しく実用性もありそう。きっとホームレスの人達も楽になる、地下鉄ラッシュアワーで潰される心配も減る、空港での接続時間待ちでは何処にでも寝れる、そして私のように自分が何か解らない人にピッタリ。使えるネ！！？？

Jacobean is finally back again for the te+te bag collection after spending some time to find this beautiful golden yellow 100% silk stripe to go with. Fortunately, some Jacobean fabric are left for another combination. I have been thinking of taking a different approach for a future combination.

NEW YORK GIFT FAIR

There is always at least one good thing ( out of millions of products) to see at NYIGF. We visited our friend who exhibited her line of products( this is her 46th participation, amazing!) and organized the special project called " Accent on Japan" forming some Japanese companies who are showcasing Japanese products.
Anyway, The Javits center was filled with more people and enthusiastic atmosphere in comparison with the last show. I had an impression that many participants shrunk down their booth size to its minimum. Only a few booths still kept their floor size larger than the basic. Over and above, there was no freshness or excitement, hence no change. GOOD! Things are changing too fast now days. I was possibly overwhelmed by millions of products and gigantic space so that I had no interest left for taking a shot ( it is not allowed anyway). Instead, The Empire Bldg. and The new yorker Bldg. appealed to me more at my unusual walking on the very west side of NYC.

Then on the highway, to the way home, I couldn't resist taking arrogantly ugly deadly Trump buildings on the west side.

Oh, the chance to take The Hustler bldg. was given by stopping at traffic light. Still active?

NYギフトショーでは何かひとつぐらいは見るものがある。（数万個いや億かのプロダクトが展示されているに違いない）今回の出店が４６回目という友人がこの度アクセント　オン　ジャパン　という企画をしているので訪問。

ジャビツセンターは前回に比べ結構多くの人達と活気があった。

でも各展示は最小限のブースサイズでまとまって、大きなスペースをとっている会社はずっと少なくなっていたような印象。全体的には特に目新しいものも雰囲気もなく、変わらず。あまりにも速く変化しすぎる今日の中、それは良い事！写真を撮る興味も失ってしまうほど沢山の物と巨大なスペース。代わりに、めったに歩かないマンハッタン西側から見るニューヨーカービルとエンパイアの方が目に面白い。

帰りのハイウエイーから西側ハドソン川に添って立ち並ぶ醜い建築物とそこから退廃的幻想しか生まれてこないトランプビルにうっすらと夕日が映る。そうそう、途中で丁度ハスラービルの所で信号待ち。まだ生息していたんだ。。。。

CharityWater which I trust sent me the e-mail about helping Haiti. So I connected two organizations of which Charitywater is partner with. I chose one, and made a donation.

WHERE IS THE EMPIRE STATE?

The Empire State Building celebrated the new year with the lightings in green and red on January 2, 2010.
The shots were taken from the NJ turnpike, on the way back to the Empire State from the Garden State (Of course I wasn't a driver). Without the twin towers, the only way for me to find Manhattan at night illumination was to look for the Empire State Building. Well, it seems to be difficult to identify anything from these pictures anyway though...

I googled to find how the nickname of the 50 states was chosen. (for curious people). None of them sparks or imaginative except Aloha State. Aloha State takes you there in a moment you voice it!

Actually, the reason why I posed my camera was to shot the unusually extordinary HUUUGE yellow Moon.... couldn't get any of that.

２０１０年１月２日のエンパイヤステートビルは赤と緑のライトで飾られていました。
ガーデン州からエンパイヤー州への帰り道中、ニュージャージー高速から撮ったもの（もちろん運転席からではないよ）。
夜の灯りの中で、ツインタワー無しのマンハッタンを見つけるのはエンパイヤーステートビルを探すのが楽。っといっても、この写真から何かを特定する事は難しいでしょうけど。。。
アメリカ５０州のニックネームの由来を検索してみると、あまりパットした理由のものはない。でもアロハ州は好い。アロハと声にしただけで既にその州に居るみたいだから
。
本当のカメラを構えた理由は異常に並外れた大きな黄色の月を射る事だったけど、、、全くダメだった。

Tomorrow, December 31st, the last day of 2009, will become a full moon. Just because it will rain or snow according to the weather report, the night before a full moon had to be captured. It began to cover it with thick clouds though it was super bright.

Hopefully, we will be able to see the new moon on January 1, 2010. Then, it will be a good start for 2010 and the new decade!

Really, a new good camera is necesarry. Where did Santa go?

厚い雲が増してきていたけど、とても明るい光で照らして美しい。

Places Honorable Mention
I was spending the fourth of July back in Nebraska, in the farmhouse where I grew up, and there were more fireflies that summer than I'd ever seen. I went out to the dirt road behind the house and shot this using a long exposure, just after sunset.
Surprisingly, her winning photo shows very similar experience to what I shared here previously.

I had walked through exactly like this path although I didn't post one.

National geographic２００９フォトコンテスト受賞者の一人の写真が目に入った。見た事あるよこの風景。
驚くやこれは以前私が体験したA Midsummer's Night Dream?!とそっくりな道！私は全く上手く撮れなかったのだけど。。。全国的に蛍が狂盛りの夏だったのでしょうか。
